In most cases, yes. Especially in school holidays and busy areas like Cornwall, the Lake District, or the Highlands. Some sites fill up months ahead. For last-minute trips, try smaller or less popular campsites, or look on apps that list same-day availability. Always check site facilities and arrival deadlines before travelling.

You can’t just park anywhere overnight in England or Wales. Wild camping is usually not allowed unless you have permission from the landowner. In Scotland, wild camping is legal, but there are some regional restrictions and evolving rules. It’s best to stay at registered campsites or Brit Stops, which are free stopovers at pubs, farms, and businesses. Book well ahead in popular spots―sites fill quickly, especially in summer.
